This resonates. A lot of games nowadays emulate something more like a movie or podcast and like you said, it’s about finishing the experience. Even something like Hades, the gameplay is old school and fairly straight forward, but the sheer amount of recorded dialogue makes for an experience in and of itself.
Along the same lines I grew to care less about 100%ing a game unless it’s a game WORTH doing so.
For sports, Madden has been needing a reboot for the better part of 15 years. Game is filled to the brim with bugs and every year it’s worse.
I would like to see Tenchu reboot with today’s tech. I loved those games on the PS1.
