For a lot of devices that will leave an unsecured wifi network on that will
- allow any passerby to just set it up under their account and potentially mess with it
- use up valuable WiFi channels you might want to use for your own network

I mean, it would be nice to see a comparison between a Chinese loan and a loan by the IMF. Maybe the sting still has to come because they haven’t been doing it for as long, but there’s got to be a good reason those countries go with China instead of the IMF.
To me it seems like IMF loans involve privatising revenue generating assets, lowering taxes on the wealthy and austerity on the masses. The biggest criticism of the Chinese way of financing is that if you default on the loan you used to build a port/highway/railway line, they keep that specific asset. And I guess instead of using local labour they use Chinese workers.
There’s definitely things to criticise there, but I know which option I’d pick if I needed a port in my country.
And now job boards are full of ads for ‘salesforce developers’ that pay ridiculous amounts because nobody really wants to work on salesforce.
Even if they were working on it, they wouldn’t tell, otherwise a bunch of people would be waiting on the steam deck 2 instead of buying the current one.
Have you considered only backing up the data you can’t replace relatively easily? I would look into a strategy of periodically backing up the list of media in a format that can easily be imported into Radarr or whichever system you used to acquire them. Sure, if the worst happens it’ll take forever to redownload, but you can just prioritise the things you want to watch right now while everything’s rebuilding in the background.
Definitely do back up photos, documents and your home directory (excluding stuff like a steam library), but hopefully you should be able to fit all that on a NAS or external HD.
Hamas had a whole investigation and remediation in the space of days, in the middle of a war zone. Meanwhile we’re still waiting to find out who killed Shireen Abu Akleh over 2 years ago.
Ubuntu (and probably Debian too) will keep an old kernel in your grub list so you can boot off that one if needed.
To visit relatives mostly. And it’s a big tourist destination in the Muslim world because of some more permissive laws regarding alcohol and the like.
Eh, I can see why you’d want something like that in a language like JavaScript where pretty much all native ways of validating input have weird edge cases. Sometimes you just want the community to figure it out for you instead of reinventing the wheel and finding out you missed something later on.
A whole package that handles validation of inputs, or a math package would be better than a package that just has one function tho.
Is it because they included a crypto miner in the package?
Yeah, those security agents can become attack vectors themselves, so running them kernel level is nuts.
Ok, from what I gather, they want to play games with keyboard and mouse, and also don’t want to use windows any more. Steam OS is designed to be controller friendly and while desktop is nice and usable, Steam OS is probably not the best desktop distro out there. The obvious solution is to install any distro (Ubuntu, Mate, PopOS, even some gaming optimised ones), but yet they seem hung up on installing steam OS for whatever reason.
They’ll never get a huge chunk of the market, but the customers they will have will be loyal and can be leveraged to sell other stuff to. Wouldn’t surprise me if these razors are just repackaged stuff from another brand.
Offline mode is still kind of an issue with some stuff, unfortunately.
You can use any Linux distro and install steam on it? I really don’t understand the issue you’re having. It works perfectly on pretty much any modern mainstream distro.
Which definitely wouldn’t have been a single developer’s fault.
Yeah exactly. You’d think they’d have a test suite before pushing an update, or do a staggered rollout where they only push it to a sample amount of machines first. Just blaming one guy because you had an inadequate UAT process is ridiculous.
Let’s start by putting up cameras in all his houses.
