If you haven’t tried it, audio porn. Turn off the lights and the screen, put in some earbuds and close your eyes. They’re often slower burn and at least for me is usually a much better experience than video.

For me, it started out with plain old imagination and porn videos. It took a tragically long time to discover literotica and audio.

At least for me, written erotica (sometimes with the assistance of AI), comics and audio give a much nicer experience with preference changing depending on mood. Part of that might be because it leaves a lot to the imagination.

Only time I use video porn nowadays is when wanting to just “get it over with quickly”.

Two main factors:

1. I’m pretty broke.

2. I hate subscriptions.

Then there’s the fact that a huge number are incomplete and end up being abandoned. This is a bigger issue when there’s a story involved. Ooh you got to halfway romance your target, look forwards to getting to second base in the next update!

As a regular dude I’d also like an answer to this question. Every service I’ve tried so far ends up making me miserable in the long run, which is why I don’t use them anymore.

Sort of yeah. I find myself attracted to one set, and have an aversion to the other.

However, the attraction sort of hinges on the idea that they are attached to a person. Even with a close-up, the mind imagines that there is a person, and I prefer a complete view to a close-up. I’m not attracted by sex-toys of the appropriate shape.

For sure, ideally this could be controlled on a community - by community basis, but AFAIK that isn’t an option with lemmy, hence my suggestion of retaining downvotes only on comments.

This would protect contributors from essentially all unwanted negative attention (since derogatory comments are against guidelines), whilst keeping negative feedback for a part of the content where folks have to actively engage to participate. (You won’t even be in the comments if you didn’t find the post interesting & engaging)

IMO up & downvotes both have a purpose. Content can be disagreeable without being rule-breaking. I’ve certainly found downvotes a helpful indicator in the past, occasionally highlighting a poor formulation that caused one of my comments to be misunderstood.

A potential middle-ground might be disallowing downvotes on post, but permitting them on comments?
