  • Yeah, she’s been on my radar and I’ve heard some pretty good ideas and beliefs espoused by her and her running mate. Building leftist movements in a deep-red state is very much a “step lightly” action though, so I have worries that any overt socialist growth here will mean more attempted attacks on pride festivals by neo-nazis, and such. Hell, even mention of “antifa” brings out the crazies to roam the streets with rifles.

This is the #1 reason I have a hard time considering voting for Kamala in a non-swing state. We’ve got ranked choice voting in the ballot, so I’ll definitely be voting, but idk if I’ll cast a presidential vote or not.

I don’t endorse her, so why should I vote like it?

I don’t think you understand how peta works. It’s not a monolith who does their own work. If you want to do some animal rights activism, peta will help you acquire supplies and support publication. Give everyone a voice, and you’re bound to find some takes you don’t like.

I’ve gotten assistance from peta before, and they’re way more helpful than any other org.

  • Yes. There’s a gui software called ‘Nmkoder’ that has an encoder built in called AV1AN. It basically cuts the entire video into a bunch of short segments, renders several copies of each short segments at different CRF values (basically Handbrake’s RF values), gets the VMAF for each segment, saves only the one thats closest matches your Target VMAF, and stitches it all together at the end.

It works for AV1 and HEVC, and let’s you pause and resume an encode at any time, though the whole process is quite a bit slower.

The real problem though is that doesn’t produce an even size between source materials of different sizes. For example: a 5 GB Amazon screen rip can encode down to 1.5 GB at 95 VMAF or so. However a 60 GB bluray rip encodes down to 24 GB. One thing I really look for in an encode is a 5-15 MBPS HEVC video stream, so this doesn’t really get what I’m wanting in most cases. It is fun to experiment with though.
