Yeah definitely! Porn / erotica has been a huge factor in the popularity of the whole internet, too. Like you said in your post, currently lemmynsfw is mainly specifically porn; it’s an “easier” format than more conversation-based stuff because Lemmy really doesn’t have critical mass yet and the majority of people just mainly lurk and don’t comment / post (like it is with any social network.) Contrast this to the fact that there’s smutty chat subreddits that have more users than the entirety of Lemmy 😅

I did notice that a lot of people have “sex is dirty” mindset (elsewhere not here) and then they can get pretty rude and underhanded like anything goes because basically they associate sex with something dark and secretive.

Ugh I get what you mean. Weirdly enough it feels like younger folks are a bit more in that mindset than us old farts, like attitudes have gotten more conservative instead of less when it comes to sexuality. Well, at least partially, there’s good things too of course.

But yeah anyhow, could be that your best bet right now could be to try and be active on !chat@lemmynsfw.com (or others like it, I actually don’t know what the options are here for that stuff) like you’ve already done, try to strike up conversations? Might be a bit of a grind but you already managed to “activate” people a bit which is great!

But yeah, lemmynsfw definitely can be a bit of a sausage fest. The Fediverse and Lemmy especially are niche enough that a lot of the users are techy types (like yours truly, heh) which does tend to still bring a gender bias with it.

If you have the spoons for it, you could occasionally post the kind of stuff you’d like to see? It might feel like shouting into the void since yeah, not a lot of women here (probably more gay guys), but every change has to start somewhere, right?

Thank you for all you do to keep the instance running. Migrations do have a tendency to sometimes go sideways, so it’s nice that it went smoothly in the end even if it took more work than you expected.

Been a bit of a dry spell for like 3 or 4 years now because of Reasons and Stuff, so frankly just someone to tussle with for a bit would already be pretty nice. But I haven’t had group fun in even longer, and while it’s not exactly a novel fantasy it’s been fun the few times I’ve done it.

It’d be awesome to end up in one of those configurations of people (eg. at a party, usually how those random ones have gone for me) that suddenly devolves into groping and fucking, when everybody’s enough on the same “wavelength” already and then some little thing gives the group a little push 😁 One pair starts some sort of tomfoolery, and suddenly there’s not a dry panty or a flaccid penis in the vicinity and everything goes 😂

Said it somewhere else here earlier, but I’m close enough but not quite a lesbian that I jokingly call myself lesbian-adjacent, because I’m also not at all above eg. giving a dick a bit of a lick (although probably wouldn’t want one like inside inside me, but who the hell knows with me 😅) in that sort of a group play scenario. I know surprising amounts about the technical side of lots of cryptocurrency projects because in another life I’ve worked on sort-of-related things, but like the idiot I am I never bought all that many of anything and haven’t “handled” them in ages.

What would be good options for me if I just want to use my credit card to quickly buy whatever crypto and send it to any address I want? I did look at some sites a couple of days ago, but they were more for trading and didn’t seem too great for this use case.

I never got into crypto even though I’m a huge nerd, so I have no idea which service is trustworthy and quick’n’easy to use.

Lots of people browsing all local communities probably downvoted posts in communities they weren’t members of. In especially more niche communities this can mean that the downvotes from people who aren’t in it can drown out the upvotes from people who are. Allowing only upvoting means that the number reflects who many people actually actively liked it
