I had a similar issue and honestly I would just recommend worrying about it later. Don’t force it, just try it when you have some free time.

I started off with dual boot to play with Linux and jump to windows when I need it. Then eventually to full Linux once I realized I never actually needed it to do all my work.

I recommend Linux mint as its the most similar to windows and is built for new Linux users. I tried Ubuntu first and the experience was pretty bad, but I learned much quicker in mint and had a much better experience right away.

Simply wanting to save money is a valid enough reason to pirate. The only time you should have any second thoughts is if its a product you REALLY want to see more of or if its made by a smaller group that could really use that money.

Even then though, you can always help without spending money. Easiest way is to spread the word.

Tell others its a good game worth getting. In many cases, that might help more than buying the game and saying nothing about it.

Yeah steam does it very well. On stuff like the switch, the prices are so crazy I immediately go hack my console. But in steam, prices were so much lower to the point in which I never thought about it.

I only recently started doing it when I noticed some games block you from playing offline.

Same, I tried lutris but it just wasn’t working consistently. Bottles is both easier and consistent for me.

Lutris still got them scripts tho for specific needs.

I think the bigger problem is how commital those games are. They all want you to play 24/7 which makes it hard to enjoy other games.

I love competitive games, but I have too many other games I want to play. Im not gonna grind on one when I could of played like 30 games off my list.

Its definitely a mindset thing. In any game with any sort of competition, the majority of people seem to have this thought that “I must win”. And if they dont, then they are having a bad time.

I notice this alot in smash specifically when I play with new players, they put all this emotion into matches with nothing on the line. Then beat themselves over every loss.

I even get questions like “Why you did this dumb thing?” which sometimes leads them to thinking im trolling. Like bro, im playing for fun.

Or if im not sweating 24/7, “Are you sandbagging?” Dude, we are playing friendlies, this is not a tourney that decides my future career, its not that serious.

Its like people forgot what casual gaming was.

Casual multiplayer games still exist, but are pretty rare these days. Stuff like left 4 dead, minecraft survival, and halo minigame maps are all very casual. I would think VR multiplayer games are probably casual too but I never got into it lol

If you hate any social interaction with randoms at all tho, then I would still avoid those probably.

Left 4 dead is probably the best example of that.

I dont understand what makes them “somewhat unfair”.

But I strongly agree we need more PvE stuff. I love competitive games, but they are so commital. More casual experiences would make it alot easier for me to try new games without too much commitment, and PvE sounds like it would fit in well.

People like games like those cuz of how rewarding it feels when you overcome it. With that said, its not for most people.

I have much better speeds (1GB) and I dont think Ive ever got past 10mbs when torrenting. It can only go as fast as the seeds can upload to you. (So if they are sending at 5mbs, you will be bottlenecked by that upload speed)

You can honestly probably just ingore it, but I would still update luma and update to the latest 3ds update cuz:

you can still install game updates iirc on the latest version

you will be missing new features that luma offers now (I also notice better performance in general like quicker boot times)

latest homebrew assumes you are up to date so it may cause some rare problems.

Updating luma is also literally just dragging the boot file into the root of your sd card and clicking “replace” so its very little work. And then of course, you then update in the system settings.

Btw for cias, check out erista. QR codes if you are lazy or direct downloads for huge installs. (like if you have a 64/128 gb sd card)

Just learned about the removal of port forwarding. Damn this sucks.

General rule of thumb is to update luma before performing a system update. If the luma version is old, then it wont support the latest 3ds update and wont boot to the home menu.

This doesnt mean its bricked, but that you are now forced to take out your sd card and update luma to boot to the home menu properly.

So just update luma, then do a system update and you are good. Worst case is that it fails to boot, you update luma on your sd card, and then boot just fine anyways.

I would just use mullvad vpn. If you wanna save, you can just buy one month and download everything you want before it ends.

Though I use mullvad for alot of stuff so I never found the price to be expensive.

Your only other reasonable option is to simply not torrent.

Finally playing that game and the music blew me away.
