Isn’t that technically salting the earth? Maybe in something like the Sahara but I don’t see like it’s a good idea.

If that’s the issue what about just cranking the vibration up so you can feel and hear it if you set it down?
I’ve thought of doing something similar, the other fun part is that you could stash a big battery behind the display and run the E-ink on a super slow refresh rate since they only use power to refresh. I wish E-ink wasn’t so ridiculously expensive. This monitor would be perfect if it weren’t $1200.
Yep. Either that or they’re just older and used to the way things were. Go to the office if you want but leave me out of it.
That’s me too. Sure it’s useful once a week to sit down with my team but the rest of our work is solo or on an ad hoc debugging call where sharing screens actually makes things easier.
Even worse my office doesn’t even have enough desks for everyone, and even fewer of them are properly setup with a monitor from this decade. Each of I ur 3 mandatory office days is a complete crapshoot on whether you’ll actually get a proper workstation or will you be stuck at a table with your laptop all day.
They’re write offs where fuck all gets done. Some of my colleagues who are in meetings all day seem to be okay with the office but if you actually need to do work there’s little point in being there.
Yep. Some torrents are low bandwidth and you can have a lot. Sometimes it seems you’re connecting to an AWS server and all of the sudden you’re saturated.
The article doesn’t really go into it but what’s a typical yield for chips like that? That’s great they’re on a smaller dye but if you’re trashing half of them it seems you’re not quite there yet.
The ear buds are so tiny I don’t know if the average person could do it, and in terms of components it’s really only the battery that would need replacing. I’d like to see app change it up where the AirPod sticks unscrew and can be swapped/recycled. Sustainable from the get go.
All the most recent OLEDs are smart TVs, the only thing I could think of that isn’t are basically things classified as digital signage but these panels aren’t really tuned for watching at home.
But your best bet is to use the TV as a display for whatever you have and switching inputs old school style. Connect it once to do software updates. Unplug from wall and don’t give it your wifi password or vlan it off the internet. Otherwise they’re all sending data back about you, and your consumption habits.
It could also have less integrity (like my code) overall due to non uniform weight displacement. But I’m not an engineer.
Some people think that people who seem to get their stride later are actually just super early morning people. Also potentially theories around biphasal sleep.
A lot of people there are unfortunately essentially captive too. Apparently coming over to America on sponsored visas and need to find an alternative company willing to sponsor them - which is not easy. They can’t quit without risking their ability to stay in the country.
I believe they’re allowing new browsers on iOS now but they’ll likely not be performant as safari due to Apples WebKit optimizations.

You can also self host your own sync server (even works on iOS)
Some one game that comes to mind is one of my favourite RTS’s Lord of the Rings Battle for Middle Earth (and it’s expansion Rise of the Witch King). It was published by EA. Unfortunately they no longer have the license for LOTR content so they can’t legally sell this game and you can’t buy it. Thankfully it’s still alive due to the piracy community and you can download a copy with all the cracks and whatnot.
Same reason I’m on Suse now as well. I got tired of tinkering all the time.
I’d throw an option out for Suse but if you really want as little OS as possible Arch Linux.
Me too! Actual servers are docker-compose which is on git but the data…yeah that’s on hope hahaha
My office blocks git through the CLI/VS Code Tools but somehow GitHub desktop works. No idea why.
I believe the CEOs son has some special needs and he’s been big on pushing them to develop inputs methods that are accessible. It’s definitely getting better! As a gamer who’s been playing since they were a kid and now in my 30’s I’m starting to get RSI like issues and definitely appreciate some of these accessibility movements because they allow me to change up my input more often.
